Industrial Maintenance – An Open Course for English-speaking Students in Engineering

This is an optional course of the Master’s Degree for all Engineering programmes second year, taught at the Faculty of Engineering. All fields of engineering activities have to deal with reliability and maintenance.

This course is divided into two parts. The first one defines the “maintenance” function in an industrial context and provides an overview of RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) and maintenance policies. The second one investigates some specific aspects of maintenance through the critical analysis of a research paper. The course concludes with a discussion among all students presenting a contribution related to their specific field of interest. In 2014, discussions will concern: optimum maintenance strategy for deteriorating bridges, assessment of structural failures in timber structures, risk-based maintenance, reliability analysis of wind turbines, …

Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety of Industrial Equipment

This is a compulsory course of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering programme, second year, taught in French at the Faculty of Engineering for the professional focus on Design and Production.

This course is divided into two parts. The first one defines the “maintenance” function in an industrial context with a management perspective.  The second one is more theoretical and investigates probabilistic and statisitical reliability issues. There is only a little redundancy with the optional course abovementioned.
